  3. Hi Maria, I am looking forward to certification this year! After I registered for certification, a link to the modules were sent to me. In the link I was able to download PDF files of the modules. I prefer printed versions so I can highlight and make notes, but everyone has their own preference. I inserted them into a binder with tabs for each of the four modules, with a couple blank pages at the end of each module to take additional notes if needed. Take care! Jen
  4. HI Msawyer, Depending on what you're looking for, your local "Fastsigns" or other sign vendors could help with this, especially if you need floor signs or anything more industrial. Or you can make your own signs and laminate/frame them, which is more cost effective. (which is what we've done in our smaller office locations) Take care!
  5. Hello! I am also interested in onboarding strategies, manuals, templates others are using. I have recently taken a management role and we have no standard process to our onboarding currently so I'm anxious to implement this for our office. What do you cover in the first week of onboarding? What do you prioritize in your training structure? Looking forward to learning more to what you all are doing! Thank you!
  6. I have recently had the offer to basically turn my role into whatever I want it to be - sounds great, right?! Except that...I DON'T KNOW where I want to grow, learn, do more. I should've started a PDP a long time ago. Let's face it, I'm usually the one asking others, what do you need from me, but now the company is asking - "what do YOU want?" and the tables are turned. I know I'd like to create a PDP but don't I first need to know what I want? Why is this so hard for me to define? I love my job, I love the variety of challenges, I love the people I work with. I don't know what I'd change. I don't know where to "stretch" next, but I'm being given the opportunity and I don't want to lose it...so now what?! Do these questions mean that I need a mentor? Or what other suggestions do you have? Where did you all start with creating a PDP? I will be attending APC and will be looking for areas of interest and opportunity then, but I hate to wait that long to begin.
  7. Thanks for the suggestions, Kaylyn! I'll keep this in my "recharging" notes! We had our meeting two weeks ago and the chair massages were a hit. Our meeting was 80 people, primarily males. We had two chair masseuses set up for 5-10 min massages in the morning before the meeting, during breaks, lunch and for 30 minutes after the meeting. They were a hit! Some went back more than once!
  8. We are looking to book a guest speaker for our upcoming sales meeting. We'd like them to do a safety talk for a couple hours or half day. I've never booked a guest speaker for our events so I'm looking to this forum for some advice! What should I know when booking a speaker? What is a good rate for a guest speaker? Is there anything special I should have onsite for them? What should I expect of them? Thanks for any advice and direction on this!
  9. Hi Everyone! I'm planning a week long corporate meeting and would like to offer chair massages to our attendees by the onsite spa personnel. Have any of you offered this during your meetings? How did it go? How long did you offer per person? How many masseuse personnel did you make available? Did you offer this on breaks? Or before/after the meeting session? Was there a sign up in advance? Or was it impromptu? Are there any other tips you have on keeping the energy level up during our meetings? Looking forward to your comments!

  11. Hi Joanne, First, I love the idea of doing a monthly teambuilding! I would love to suggest this for our office. Do you do it during work hours or after hours? Is it typically done in the office? Have you thought about doing charitable activities? Here's a few I thought of... building a bike to donate to a child Building & painting a toy box to donate to a habitat for humanity home Writing/making cards for military Perhaps in conjunction with a military care package of donated items Decorate book marks to donate to the local library or literacy center A game of poker using the $5/person where the stakes are a donated to the winners favorite charity Plant a small vegetable or flower box to donate to a local classroom
  12. Hi Joanne! Just a few thoughts... Where does your department struggle the most? Where could they improve? For example, if tardiness or sick days have become more frequent, you could set a group goal to limit sick/tardy days. Or is there something you feel the team already does, but you could push to the next level by setting an obtainable goal to improve? Such as accomplishing a task in a shorter amount of time or getting more "first time rights" as a group. Hope this helps! Wishing you the best of luck in your goal setting! Jen
  13. Hi Diane! I'm so glad someone brought up this topic!! I've started a project recently for a risk assessment and safety plan for our annual meetings (not an easy task as our meetings are not always held in the same location or with the same people). I had some trouble finding resources on safety planning as I'm looking to cover many different types of emergencies - medical, weather, local threats, active threats. I finally & fortunately have found a crime prevention officer/instructor at our local technical college to coach me along with a first draft of our plan. As I continue to work on this, headcount is one of the topics that has come up. I have found online that there are some apps that individuals can mark themselves as "safe". I've just started looking into this so my knowledge is only based on what I've read online. I'd be interested in hearing if anyone else has insight with the headcount/evacuation apps, which one(s), and if they've found them helpful and user friendly?? Also related to the contingency planning is a "go-kit". Does anyone have one of these and if so what do you keep in it? Great topic, Diane - hope we see some great feedback!! Enjoy your weekend.
